An interactive seminar geared toward those working in the non-profit sector and the arts. A day of discussion about using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs and other social media to save you money, help recruit and retain volunteers and further your cause. Participants will explore social media sites and discuss social media strategies. Further your cause by learning to harness these free Web-based tools.

By the end of the day, each participant will have a vastly improved level of social media literacy and be able to:

• Identify the main principals behind SEO
• Identify some of their cause’s SEO keywords
• Define and use tags online
• Identify a hyperlink and state some of its features and benefits
• Identify the RSS symbol and its purpose
• Identify widgets and plug-ins
• Visually identify the icons associated with Twitter, facebook and YouTube
• Find and navigate these Web sites
• Hold a conversation about the “social media trifecta” of Twitter, facebook and YouTube
• State the difference between a blog and a Web site and state some of the features and benefits of each
• Speak and think critically about social media strategy
